We believe children learn through doing, wondering, moving, making, exploring and being part of real life - and that families thrive when they have the freedom, support and community to do things differently.
From our off-grid home in Nicaragua to family expeditions around the world, wildschooling resources and a growing parent community, we're creating spaces for families to put this way of living into practice.

Born in the wild. Built by a family.
We're Sarah and Brendan, with our son Jarrah.
Three years ago, we stepped away from the conventional path and built an off-grid family home in Nicaragua.
Since then, we've welcomed 450+ people into that world - families, travellers, children, adventurers and people looking for something a little different.
Roots & Wings grew from that experience.
We're not here to tell you how to raise your children. We're here to show you what's possible.
