Our own journey into this way of living started with a simple question: what if there was another way?
After years of travelling, living between cultures and building a life outside the usual mould, we started questioning more and more of the things we had simply been told were “normal”.
Then came parenthood, and suddenly those questions mattered in a completely different way.
Sarah had also experienced the school system from the inside, working with children as a counsellor and relaxation trainer. And the more we saw, the more we realised that the kind of childhood, learning and freedom we wanted for our own family wasn’t something we were going to find by simply following the usual path.
So we chose to explore something different.
We started travelling, worldschooling, wildschooling and learning alongside our son through real life. Not because we had all the answers, but because we wanted to see what could happen when we gave ourselves permission to question the ones we had been handed.
Roots & Wings grew from that journey. And so did this guide here.
We’re not here to tell you there is one right way to raise or educate your children. We’re here to remind you that you’re allowed to question, to unravel, to change your mind and to create something that actually feels right for your family.
You’re not failing. You’re carrying a list nobody gave you, and you’re allowed to read it again.
